Pastor Gier is a 1986 graduate of the College of Art and Architecture at the University of Idaho, earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He practiced as a licensed architect in both Connecticut and Washington State. Projects included custom homes, churches, schools, high rise office buildings, downtown redevelopment, and various other commercial projects.
In 1998 he began his theological studies at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, graduating in 2002 with a Master of Divinity Degree. He continued his studies another year serving as Graduate Assistant to the Department of Pastoral Ministry and Missions.
In 2003 Pastor Gier received a Divine Call to serve as Pastor at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was ordained into the Office of the Holy Minisrty on June 22, 2003, and installed at Mount Calvary the following July.
Pastor Gier met his wife Anne while at the seminary and they have since been blessed with two wonderful sons, Noah, Jonah, and daughter, Isabella. We have been greatly blessed by the saints at Mount Calvary and it is a joy to serve and live in the Excelsior Springs area.
Pastor Gier enjoys using his architectural skills for multiple design/build projects around the home, when not out hiking, biking, fishing and vacationing with his family.
